Printing Tips for Your Digital Download

So youโ€™ve just downloaded your new digital artworkโ€”how exciting! Whether itโ€™s a floral print, a nature-inspired scene, or a beautifully moody photograph, the right printing choices will help it look as stunning in person as it does on your screen. Hereโ€™s how to make sure your print turns out perfectly every time.

1. Choose the Right Paper

Paper makes a big difference in the final look of your print when printing at home. We suggest printing at a local lab as it yield the best results, especially for our images that a low in contrast like our moody reneissance floral arrangements.

  • Matte paper gives a soft, painterly finishโ€”great for fine art or botanical pieces.
  • Lustre or satin offers a subtle sheen and rich color without too much glare.
  • Glossy paper works beautifully for high-contrast photography or modern art.
If youโ€™re unsure, try printing small test swatches on a few different papers first.

2. Print at the Correct Size

All of my digital downloads include recommended print sizes to make things easy. When printing, be sure to select โ€œActual Sizeโ€ or 100% scale in your printer settingsโ€”avoid โ€œFit to Page,โ€ which can distort proportions or crop the image unexpectedly.

If youโ€™re ordering through a print shop, pick a size at or below the recommended print size. Some cropping might be necessary depending on the option you pick, so be sure to check the cropping before ordering. Use the preview tool: Most online print shops show a live preview of your crop areaโ€”zoom out or reposition the image so important elements arenโ€™t cut off.

3. Use a Quality Printer or Print Shop

For the best results, use a professional print lab or an at-home printer designed for photos or fine art. Local shops like FedEx Office, Walgreens, or small boutique print studios can produce beautiful results. For online printing, sites like MPix, Artifact Uprising, or Printique are reliable choices that deliver high-quality results right to your door.

4. Frame It Right

Once your print is ready, protect it with a frame that complements your style. A simple white, black, metal, or wood frame will keep the focus on the art itself. If your print includes deep or moody tones, consider a mat board to give the artwork breathing room and a professional finish.

5. Storage and Care

If youโ€™re not framing immediately, store your print flat in a cool, dry place, preferably between sheets of acid-free paper. Never touch the printed surface directly to prevent fingerprints or smudges.

With these simple tips, your digital download will transform beautifully from screen to wall. Enjoy the processโ€”and donโ€™t forget to tag me when you share your finished piece! I love seeing how you display your artwork.
